The era of electromobility presents new challenges which must be mastered by both man and materials. Today, neodymium-iron-boron-magnets are used in areas in which strong magnetic fields at low volumes and low weights are necessary. These so-called rare earth magnets guarantee the resource conservation of raw materials, weight reduction of the drives and longer service lives required of permanent magnets. However, they are more complicated to manufacture than conventional magnets. A decisive factor for the quality and properties of permanent magnets is a raw material with a narrow particle size distribution with the lowest possible fraction of finest- ( 8 µm).

3D printing and other additive production techniques make it possible to manufacture materials with internal structures of previously unimaginable complexity. This is interesting for lightweight construction, too, as it enables the development of materials that have the highest possible share of interior voids (to make the materials as light as possible) but are simultaneously as robust as possible. Achieving this requires that the internal structures be intelligently organised for maximum efficiency.

Singapore / Ludwigshafen, Germany – November 6, 2018 – BASF launches  PeptAIde™, a sports nutrition ingredient containing a unique set of plant-based peptides identified using artificial intelligence (AI), for regulating inflammation. With industrial-scale production in Germany, PeptAIde is now available in the United States. Commercialization will follow in Asia Pacific and Europe by 2019. BASF is also currently performing regulatory clearance to allow access to other key markets.
